Book Week

Preparation for book week started in earnest from the beginning of the year. With the theme Come Alive in mind, and thanks to director Athan Ratnam, producer Jessica Hopkins and videographer Eric Lu and Alan Tian, and many talented volunteers, a first ever music video was produced.

Book Week was kicked started with a Creative Writing competition at the SIC. Each of the Middle school tutor group sent four representative to compete in a 15 minute writing. The rule of the competition is to include at least 5 from a list of 20 environment-related words. Qualified entries were then pinned up on the noticeboard at the SIC. Teachers and senior students then got to vote for their favourites. 10BQZ emerged the winners after a week of voting!

The Book Review Totem Pole competition was also launched during Book Week. Students are encouraged to submit book reviews online on our very new library OPAC. For every 10 reviews, each year group earns a totem pole point that saw their totem pole grow in the SIC. This will be on going for a while.

The next event of the week was the Book Fair that took place in the SIC over 3 days. Students got to buy books at a discounted price.

The biggest highlight was Book Character Mufti day where students got to dress up in their favourite book character. Many meaningful conversations were had around books and characters, furthering the original intent of Book Week.
