Little Bits
Make something that does something.
That is the punch line for LittleBits, a Lego-like electronic toy. A simple instruction board and a video showing what LittleBits is about and what could be built was sufficient to get students interested.
Sam and Ishaan were the most industrious pair. They didn't even start out building together. The interactive table is just wonderful for congregation of like minded people that normally wouldn't cross paths in a normal school day. They explored making a vehicle, installing a Bluetooth bit that allowed them to remote control it with a mobile phone.
Most students just enjoyed combining all the bits in different ways to see what happens. Naturally, the buzzer was the most popular bit. Many were also excited about the pressure and sound sensors which opened up a whole lot of possibilities.
