Thursday Lunchtime Concerts

Isn't the library meant to be a quiet place?

Yes for about a hundred students in the SIC, but one or two or sometimes three students have the opportunity to make the loveliest of sounds for all the rest to enjoy.

Every Thursday in Term 3 this year, 10 minutes was allocated for students who were brave enough to sign up to perform for their peers during lunchtime.

Here's the music we heard and their respective music-makers:

Week 2

Sylvia Li - Piano: Tchaikovsky - The Seasons - June

Week 3

Trisna Claney - Vocal: Misty

Week 4

Harry Stanbridge - Guitar and Vocal: 2 self-composed pieces

Week 5

Geoff Hill - Piano: Mozart concerto No. 19 - first movement

Week 6

Abigail Yeo - Piano: Beethoven - The Musical Clock

Ben Lamb - Vocal: Impossible Dream

Week 8

Franklin Yin and Svethlana Gallage - Guitar and Vocal: Yesterday

Week 9

Ben Lamb, Harry Stanbridge and Trisna Claney - Vocal: Impossible Dream

Abigail Yeo, Evelyn Yang and Sharon Li - Flute Trio: Faure - Sicilenne

As you can see, we had a great variety of music ranging from classical to jazz and from vocals to instrumentals. Some of the students in the SIC who would not normally go to concerts got to hear some good live music. Teachers were also seen to give their support by specially coming into the SIC to listen.

Thanks to all who participated and for all who kept respectfully and appreciatively quiet. ;-)
